Farm
Apprentice Herdsperson
Working as part of our dairy team alongside experienced staff you will be involved in all aspects of the herdsperson role on our 250 cow dairy farm. Duties will include milking cows, feeding and bedding cows and young stock, stock management, tractor driving, record keeping etc.
Enthusiasm and willingness to learn are crucial to this role as is the ability to work outside in all weathers (and not be afraid to get dirty!). We are looking for a practical person who would enjoy this challenging and varied position and has a strong desire to develop a career for themselves within the dairy industry.
Whilst not essential, experience of working in a farm environment or with large animals would be a distinct advantage and a full driving licence may be beneficial.
In addition to extensive on the job training in all aspects of the dairy herdperson role the position includes day release to complete an Agricultural Apprenticeship at Reaseheath College, Nantwich (The college provides a bus service from Wirral).
This position is based in rural Wirral, there is no accommodation included with the position, public transport is limited therefore consideration needs to be given by the applicant as to how they will get to and from work.
Apprentice Pay: £139.24 per week
